Before的详细用法总结

　　★注意：hardly,scarcely,barely位于句首时，主句要用部分倒装。

　　例如：Hardly had a moment passedbefore the door creaked open.

　　还没过一会儿，门就“咯吱”一声开了。

　　★注意：hardly/scarcely/barely...when 有时可与not...before换用。

　　They had hardly talked for half an hourwhen she entered.

　　= They had not talked for half an hour before she entered.

　　八、Before的一些特殊翻译法。

　　1.翻译为“否则，以免 ”。

　　Do it now before you forget .

　　2.翻译为“宁愿…也不… ”，常与will/would 连用。

　　下面，我们来学学before的用法，首先，我们可以在before后面放上一个名词，或名词性词组：

　　I’ll try to finish my report before dinner.

　　我要在晚饭前完成这个报告。

　　I’ll pick you up at the entrance before 6:30.

　　我6点半以前到入口处接你。

　　同时，我们也可以在before后放一个句子，表示在做某事之前，一般也会用过去式，或一般时：

　　Before I came to Guangzhou, I was in Beijing as an English interpreter.

　　我来广州之前，在北京做英语口译。

　　Before we got married, we were living in completely different countries.

　　我们结婚以前，住在完全不同的两个国家。

　　另外，before还可以直接单独使用，表示“从前”，“以前”：

　　1.before的用法和例句：

　　1)在……前面：

　　We have a good day’s work before us.

　　He wanted to show off before her.

　　2)在……之前：

　　The darkest hour is before the dawn.

　　1)在……后面：

　　She stands behind the counter all day.

　　2)比……晚：

　　The train is behind time.
